ABOUT ME
Sandra Varn has been a public school teacher in west central Florida for 19 years. Her experience includes teaching grades 2-5 in both general education and ESE positions.
After overcoming learning challenges as a child, she has dedicated her career to helping children learn to read and find enjoyment between the pages of books. This passion led Sandra to pursue a Masters Degree in Reading Education from the University of South Florida in 2008 and National Board Certification in Literacy in 2013.
Currently, Sandra is working as a 3rd-5th grade ESE teacher in her community school. She sees the impact of the pandemic on her students overall education daily. This has led her to open Achieve Tutoring as a way to offer research-based support to families concerned about "Covid slide", "summer slide" and/or reading challenges in general.
Growing up in a financially challenged home, Sandra understands that providing children with tutoring services can be a significant burden on families. Her goal is to provide quality tutoring services, tailored to the individual needs of the children while maintaining affordability.
The instructional materials used are based on Orton-Gillingham research and require extensive training to implement. Families will be required to make a twice a week/45-minute commitment to ensure the children have adequate time to learn and develop the skills being taught.
Our goal is to meet each reader where they are and help them take carefully planned steps to achieve their greatest success and enter a world of unlimited opportunities.
Sandra also supports families who choose to homeschool but understands that some children need a little extra support. Education consultation services are also available.
